Basic questions
What is Sports Mentorship?
Sports Mentorship helps student-athletes and families navigate life around sports. We focus on athlete development, parent support, academics, recruiting readiness, mindset, and life beyond the game.
Who is Sports Mentorship for?
We serve student-athletes and their families, especially middle school and high school athletes who want guidance, structure, and support as they grow through sports.
Is this only for athletes trying to play in college?
No. Recruiting is part of what we help with, but Sports Mentorship is bigger than recruiting. We help athletes with academics, confidence, communication, habits, decision-making, personal growth, and preparation for life beyond sports.
What sports do you support?
We can support athletes across many sports. The core issues athletes face — confidence, preparation, coach communication, academics, recruiting, and lifestyle — apply across sports.
Is Sports Mentorship online or in person?
Most support is online through calls, digital resources, community tools, and virtual sessions. Some events or meetups may be offered separately when available.
Do parents or athletes sign up?
Either can start the process, but parents are usually involved in payment, scheduling, and support. Depending on the offer, athletes may attend alone, with a parent, or both.
Programs, group support, and 1-on-1 guidance
What is the mentorship program?
The mentorship program is ongoing support for athletes and families. It can include group huddles, mentor guidance, guest sessions, parent support, athlete development, and structured conversations around sports, school, and life.
What is the difference between group mentorship and 1-on-1 mentorship?
Group mentorship gives athletes access to shared huddles, lessons, guest mentors, and community guidance. 1-on-1 mentorship adds direct individual time with a mentor while still allowing access to group support when included in that plan.
Does 1-on-1 mentorship include group huddles?
Yes, the 1-on-1 path is designed to include the group experience plus individual mentor support. The athlete gets the community layer and the personal guidance layer.
What happens during a mentorship session?
Sessions can cover the athlete’s current challenges, goals, habits, academics, team role, mindset, communication, recruiting, or life decisions. The goal is to help the athlete think clearly and take better next steps.
How are athletes matched with mentors?
We look at the athlete’s age, sport, goals, personality, and current needs. When possible, we try to connect athletes with mentors who can relate to their stage and path.
Can my athlete change mentors?
If there is a fit issue, we can review it and make adjustments when possible. The goal is to create a useful mentor relationship, not force a match that does not work.
Is mentorship only for struggling athletes?
No. Some athletes need help because they feel stuck, but many need guidance because they are motivated and want to grow the right way.
Do you help with recruiting?
Yes, but we do not position mentorship as only recruiting help. Recruiting may include profile review, film direction, outreach strategy, communication, and helping families understand the process.
Do you guarantee college offers?
No. We do not guarantee scholarships, offers, roster spots, or recruiting outcomes. We help athletes get more organized, prepared, and confident in the process.
What age should an athlete start mentorship?
Middle school is a good time to build habits, confidence, and identity. High school is a good time to add structure around recruiting, academics, performance, and next-level preparation.
1-on-1 hourly help
What is a 1-on-1 Strategy Session?
A Strategy Session is a focused 60-minute call with a Sports Mentorship mentor or mentor leader. It is built for a specific question, decision, or challenge.
Is a Strategy Session the same as mentorship?
No. A Strategy Session is one-off or short-term help. Mentorship is ongoing support over time.
Who should book a Strategy Session?
It is best for families who need a second opinion, quick clarity, help with a decision, or guidance on one specific issue.
Can parents attend the Strategy Session?
Yes. Parents can attend, athletes can attend, or both can attend together.
What can we talk about during a Strategy Session?
Common topics include recruiting, film, grades, coach communication, playing time, confidence, mindset, team fit, social media, personal brand, and next steps.
Do you offer packs of Strategy Sessions?
Yes. We offer single sessions and session packs. Packs are best when the athlete or family needs follow-up or support through a bigger situation.
Can I use a session pack for more than one topic?
Yes. A pack can be used across multiple related topics for the same athlete or family.
What happens after I buy a Strategy Session?
After checkout, you will receive the next steps to submit basic information and schedule the session.
Recruit Ready Profile and athlete visibility
What is a Recruit Ready Profile?
A Recruit Ready Profile is a clean athlete profile that organizes key information like stats, film, academics, contact details, and athlete background in one place.
What is Recruit Ready Profile Pro?
Recruit Ready Profile Pro is the done-for-you version. We take the athlete’s information and build a coach-ready profile for them.
What information do you need to build a profile?
We usually need athlete name, sport, position, school, graduation year, photo, stats, measurables, film links, academic details, awards, and contact information.
Do you create the athlete’s highlight film?
That depends on the product purchased. Some offers focus on organizing and presenting existing film, while others may include guidance or support around highlight reel strategy.
Is the profile a website or a PDF?
It depends on the offer. Some products may be PDF-based, and others may include a web profile or profile page. The product page will explain exactly what is included.
Can we update the profile later?
Yes, updates may be available depending on the product or service purchased. Athletes often need updates as their stats, film, grades, and awards change.
Will this guarantee coaches contact my athlete?
No. A strong profile can help an athlete look organized and easier to evaluate, but it does not guarantee coach interest, offers, or roster opportunities.
Family support and expectations
How involved should parents be?
Parents should be involved enough to support the athlete, understand the plan, and help with logistics. The athlete still needs to own their growth.
Can parents attend mentorship calls?
Some calls may include parents, especially onboarding, planning, or family guidance calls. Other sessions may be athlete-focused depending on the program.
Do you help parents understand recruiting?
Yes. Many parents are trying to understand timelines, coach communication, exposure, camps, profiles, and what actually matters. We help bring clarity to that process.
Can you help if my athlete is frustrated with a coach?
Yes. We can help the athlete and family think through communication, attitude, role, work habits, and how to respond without making the situation worse.
Do you talk directly to my athlete about hard topics?
Yes, when appropriate. Mentorship should be honest and useful. We try to give athletes direct feedback while still being supportive and respectful.
What if my athlete is quiet or hesitant?
That is normal. Some athletes need time to open up. A good mentor relationship often starts with trust, simple questions, and consistency.
Buying, booking, and access
How do payments work?
Payments are handled through our checkout system. Some products are one-time purchases, while mentorship programs may be recurring depending on the offer.
Are digital products refundable?
Digital product refund rules may vary by product. Because many digital products provide instant access, refund options may be limited once accessed or delivered.
Can I cancel mentorship?
Cancellation terms depend on the program purchased. The specific mentorship page or checkout will explain the billing and cancellation details.
How do we schedule calls?
After purchase or onboarding, you will receive instructions for scheduling. Calls are usually scheduled through a booking link or direct coordination.
What happens if we miss a call?
Missed-call and rescheduling policies may depend on the offer. In general, families should communicate as early as possible if they need to reschedule.
Can we buy now and schedule later?
Usually yes, especially for one-off sessions or packs. Specific timing may depend on the product or service.
Standards and fit
Who are the mentors?
Mentors may include athletes, former athletes, coaches, leaders, or trusted people who understand the sports journey and can speak into the athlete experience.
Are mentors coaches?
Some mentors may have coaching experience, but mentorship is different from sport-specific technical coaching. We focus more on guidance, development, decisions, habits, and perspective.
Will my athlete get a mentor from the same sport?
When possible, we try to match based on sport or related experience. Sometimes the best mentor fit may be based on personality, life stage, or the athlete’s current challenge.
What makes a good mentor?
A good mentor is relatable, honest, consistent, and able to help an athlete think better. They do not need to have all the answers, but they need to care and communicate well.
How do you keep quality consistent?
We aim to use clear mentor expectations, internal standards, feedback, and oversight so families get a useful experience.
Can we request a specific mentor?
You can share preferences. We will try to honor them when possible, but final availability depends on scheduling, fit, and mentor capacity.
The LIFE model
Sports Mentorship uses the LIFE framework to help athletes grow beyond just performance.
